Low Carb Smoothie Recipes
Vegan smoothies, sometimes referred to as “green” smoothies are becoming increasingly popular. Not just because of the diverse selection of additives, but mainly because the world is finally understanding the health benefits to being a vegan. Unlike vegetarians who stay away from meats, vegans stay away from anything and everything that has to do with animals. Only fresh, usually organic products go into the systems of vegans, and smoothies are no different.
Vegan Blueberry Banana Smoothie
Blueberries and bananas tend to be a vegans best friend. The two flavors are delicious together, and when they’re organic, they’re even better. This smoothie is so easy to make and even easier to drink. TIP: Try crushing the ice cubes before adding to the blender for a smoother smoothie.
1 cup fresh blueberries
2 tbsp. blueberry jelly or jam
7 or 8 ice cubes
1 1/2 cups of soymilk
Place all of the ingredients into the blender and blend on high for about 30 seconds, or until it reaches your preferred consistency. Serves 2
Vegan Mint Chocolate Smoothie
This smoothie is perfect for two. It’s minty, chocolaty, sweet and smooth.
TIP: Try substituting peanut butter for the banana or add a splash of cold coffee or espresso to give it a boost. You can buy all of these ingredients organic too.
7 or 8 ice cubes
1 1/2 cups of vanilla soymilk
1/4 cup Ghirardelli ground sweet chocolate
Fresh mint, as much as you like
Tear the fresh mint leaves into smaller pieces. Place all of the ingredients into a blender and blend until the ice is completely crushed, or until the smoothie reaches your desired consistency.
Cinnamon Strawberry Smoothie
Have you ever sprinkled cinnamon on top of fresh strawberries? If you have, you know what I’m getting at. Deliciousness. Now you can mix the two flavors into a delicious smoothie that will leave your mouth watering for more. TIP: If you don’t have time to go to the store, and only have frozen fruit, use it. Keep the strawberry and banana measurements the same.
1 cup vanilla soy milk
1/2 cup fresh strawberries, cut into small pieces
1 tbsp maple syrup
1/4 tsp cinnamon
Place all of the ingredients into a blender and blend on medium for 40-50 seconds. Serves 2.
