Smoothie Recipes for Weight Loss
Drinking smoothies is a great way to get all of the nutrients you need throughout your day, especially when you’re trying to lose weight. Weight loss and smoothies go hand-in-hand, as you can substitute a smoothie for almost any meal or snack. Our powerful protein, vegetable and low calorie smoothie recipes below are great sources for energy, nutrients, and overall health.
Protein Smoothie for Weight Loss
1 cup low fat cottage cheese
1 cup light yogurt, vanilla
1 tbsp protein powder, vanilla
1 cup ice
Add all ingredients to the blender, except for the ice. Blend for 20 seconds. Add ice and continue blending for 30 more seconds. Serve.
TIP: The cottage cheese mixes with the powder wonderfully, eliminating the taste of the cottage cheese, giving you a sweet, protein-packed smoothie. Use low-fat cottage cheese when trying to lose weight.
Vegetable Smoothie for Weight Loss
½ cup cucumbers, cut into small chunks
½ cup sliced carrots
1 cup tomato juice
1 cup ice
This smoothie is loaded with veggies. Cut up the vegetables into chunks (size can be your preference) and add to blender. Add remaining ingredients to blender and blend for approximately 1 minute, or until you reach the consistency you desire. Serve.
TIP: If you don’t have fresh veggies in the fridge, use 1 cup of mixed frozen vegetables instead. If you use frozen veggies, don’t add the ice.
Low Calorie Smoothie for Weight Loss
½ cup apples
½ cup pears
1 cup low cal yogurt
1 cup non-fat milk
1 cup ice
Cut apples and pears to a size of your preference and add to the blender. Add additional ingredients to the blender and blend for about 45 seconds, or until desired consistency.
TIP: If you don’t like apples or pears, try other fruits that are light and airy. For example, peaches are thick, juicy and loaded with sugar. Stay away from fruits with high sugar levels if you’re trying to lose weight.
